As a life purpose, i always think that contributing back to the community especially to the needy is a must as we should be grateful for our comfortable life we live now!

One of the idea was to create a profit generating business which it’s main objective is to go towards charity! Thus Sarahlist is created, but which domain should we use as main branding going out to public?

Now the headache comes in which domain name to use as main branding?

Anyone who can give me the answer, i will treat him to a japanese lunch!!

Sarahlist.com is an online buy & sell platform that seeks to empower the disabled communities. We enable everyone to post their unused items, sellable goods, or ads on what they want by category online to match buy & sell needs!

Our goal? To improve the standards of living and financial independence of disabled communities.

How does it work?

All posting of classifieds on sarahlist are free except for 4 categories, which are properties, jobs, cars and seeking partnership section. All free categories would request for a voluntary donations which all profits after cost goes to sarahfund which supports a Cause!

How is it different from Mudah?

Sarahlist’s profits goes majority to charity where it trains the support staff for sarahlist who maybe blind or disable!

With payment of classified ads, it maintains the quality of ads posting which are not spam.

Sarahlist has a foundation formed just for charity purposes and is governed by heavy weight billionaires as advisors to the board.

Additionally, Sarahlist is made up of likeminded, socially-conscious customers. We are able to provide quality ads.

There will be no banner advertising on sarahlist as we are “not in it for the money”

As most of our support are blind people, users are the primary mechanism for filtering inappropriate/miscategorized content. Sarahlist only provide support in reacting to users for preventing the posting of inappropriate content, but for the most part, it is up to the users to flag content.

It was during one time , Sarah was clearing off her old stuff and found a lot of good to sell furniture and photo frame! She asked Jeffrey Lim where to post to sell off these items? Jeffrey told her to try the newspapers, but per ads cost more than RM80 where the goods sold was worth not more than RM100. In the end, we thought of sending it for charity communities but came difficult part to where to send it and people may not want it. Too many stories behind, too many guesses, maybe it’s just an accident. But what happened before the accident, i really don’t know!

Ever since i started learning computer and using the internet, i benefited tremendously from it.

I did my first official sales through the web building website to strangers that i never met.

I did my ecommerce selling replica or you can say pirated watch to oversea countries such as Australia where credit card are commonly use in their country.

After i became a bit successful in my entrepreneurship, just a bit! Schools, colleges and universities started to invite me to talk. Then the process of sharing continues! It’s a forever non stop process as i had to juggle time with my businesses as well.

Finally i couldn’t handle the stress and broke down. In the end after consulting few mentors, the one way to go is to share out the knowledge in a commercial manner.

That’s is how computergenius was created!

2 days ago, i wanted to cut & paste Astro talk info into my blog but it was in chinese.

I was having problem with my wordpress, i could not write or see chinese in my blog. All the chinese characters show up as “????” instead of 汉语/漢語.

I was checking the setting in wordpress option itself but found no hint there. Then i resort to the magic googling and found some pointers, actually it has to do with the sql database collation setting. To display chinese properly, the recommended setting should be UTF8-UNICODE-CI. We needed to change it for my wordpress MySQL database. After some fiddling in the hosting C-Panel, i found access to my wordpress database via the tool phpMyAdmin.

Once in phpMyAdmin tool, you just have to select the database you want to work on, then go to each table, select each field with the wrong collation setting, and change it to UTF8-UNICODE-CI. My original setting was LATIN1-SWEDISH-CI. Actually to display and write chinese properly in your wordpress, you probably only need to change the post content and post title sections, and this is what i did for the time being!

So now i can finally type and read 漢語in my blog.

Just follow the steps below:

Step 1:

Login to Cpanel then click on PHPMyAdmin

Step2:

Click on ‘wp-post’ on left then ‘post_content’ under ‘field’ and click the ‘pen’ like icon to edit the field

Step3:

Change the of ‘wp=post’  -> ‘collation’ from the field ‘latin1_swedish_ci’ to ‘UTF8-UNICODE-CI’ then you done!

Step :4

Follow through with ‘wp-post’ on left then ‘post_title’ under ‘field’ and do the same as previous 2 steps and you are done!

（槟城13日讯）Astro AEC推出新一季《企动人生》，为华裔观众独家呈献属于马来西亚人的创业故事，并借由故事主人翁的奋斗经历，以及在创业过程中的更迭起伏，展现创业人坚忍不拔的决心。

5 days ago, i receive a call from Mr Samuel who is the organizing chairman of this year CYEA that i am one of the recipient for CYEA 2009!
The JCI Creative Young Entrepreneur Award (JCI CYEA) which was launched in 2005 was designed specifically to recognize outstanding young entrepreneurs. This exciting new international award recognizes, honors and celebrates exceptional young entrepreneurs and the role of creativity in their success. It is our goal to provide an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to celebrate their creativity, and to support business creativity and new enterprise development in general. Seems that i will be receiving the award from one of a mentor of mine Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew on the day itself.

I was invited to Disted Recognition Night. When i receive the Invitation email to their Recognition Night, I thought it was recognizing the students and lecturers and we were invited as guests. But the night was meant for the people who have contributed to Disted College.

DISTED College held an elegant dinner reception in honour of 35 senior industry practitioners who supported its efforts to be closer to the industry and to mould industry-savvy graduates with a keen sense of  social and environmental responsibility.

The Friends of DISTED, industry leaders honoured at the Recognition Night, in a group shot with DISTED management and event organizing team.

“They come from all key sectors in commerce and industry including manufacturing, IT, accountancy, banking, hospitality, tourism, human resource and medical,” said Ahmad Taiff Isahak, the DISTED Recognition Night organizing chairman. 

“Their invaluable contributions of time and effort were in support the college’s vision of being relevant to the industry and the community,” said Taiff, who is also DISTED engineering programme co-ordinator.

“Those honoured on this occasion have played a significant role in the implementation of various DISTED initiatives,” said Taiff, who presented a slide show recapping their involvements in the college’s numerous projects. 

“Apart from the IAP, the other enriching initiatives are the INSPiRE programme to maximise exposure of students to industry and business leaders and landscapes, the CONNECT programme which promotes a caring community culture, and the Let’s Go Green campaign to develop responsibility and leadership in environmental conservation,” he explained.
