PSC contest to design logo
Friday May 21, 2010
THE Penang Science Council (PSC) is inviting the public to come up with a catchy logo and mascot for the council.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the tagline for the designs was ‘Inspiring Innovation’.
He said the winners would get prize money totalling RM5,000.
“The winning entry will bag RM3,000. Two special prizes of RM1,000 each will be given to other winners,” he told a press conference at Enterprise Lab at Mayang Mall in Bayan Baru on Monday.
The contest, spearheaded by Motorola and Emanec.com, is open to all individuals and entries should be submitted to logo@bizwiseconsult.com.
Participants have to send in their hand-drawn submissions to BizWise Consult at 1-3-21 Krystal Point Corporate Park, 11900 Bayan Lepas Penang.
“The contest is open from May 17 to the midnight of June 7. After that, the judges, comprising key task force leaders of PSC will take several weeks to evaluate the designs.
“The winning entry will be chosen based on creativity and relevancy to the objectives of the competition. The logo and mascot will be used for all PSC activities and events,” he said.
Lim said the vision of PSC was to make Penang a centre of excellence in science and technology.
“The council will play a critical role in addressing the issue of human resources where the interest in science and technology has tapered off over the years,” he said.
Emanec.com chief executive officer Jeffrey Lim said there was no age limit to the contest but entrants must be 18 and above for copyright purposes.
