MEET SCoPie, the official mascot of the Software Consortium of Penang (SCoPe).
Introduced recently at the SCoPe Membership Drive Day 2008, the mascot would serve as a marketing and promotional tool to further enhance the consortium’s image nationally and globally, said SCoPe chairman Jeffrey Lim.
“ScoPe is an initiative of the Penang Government to promote and encourage higher value-added activities in the state and the objective of SCoPie is to help build a strong brand in promoting the consortium as a one-stop software developing cluster in Penang,” he said.
He added that SCoPie was “dressed’’ in the state flag colours of blue, yellow and white.
Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin, who launched the mascot, said the state had enormous potential in the animation and software industry.
“Animation and software represents the cutting edge of computer technology and we hope more and more young Penang-based software companies will continue to develop their portfolio in achieving world-class standards and at the same time, contribute significantly to the economic growth of the country,” he said.
On another matter, Mohammad Fairus announced that August would be designated as the official month for development programmes to promote the understanding of the al-Quran and Hadith.
